Global Shield Coordination Hub

The Global Shield Coordination Hub serves as a central mechanism for guiding technical work and coordinating global efforts within the Global Shield initiative. Its primary aim is to strengthen the global framework for Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) and foster a more organized, consistent, and enduring financial safety net for nations vulnerable to climate impacts. The Hub coordinates international efforts to provide financial protection against climate risks, while the African Development Bank (AfDB) plays a vital role as an implementation partner across Africa. Through this partnership, the Hub’s ability to mobilize funding and technical support is combined with AfDB's in-depth knowledge of Africa’s unique needs and priorities, creating a powerful alliance for strengthening climate resilience and financial protection on the continent.
